I’ve been meaning to write this review for a whole year, it’s been sat in my drafts since January 2014 after six revisions. Talk about putting off a review! It wasn’t till my cousin came to visit last weekend and we went shopping specifically for one of the products that I remembered how much I actually loved this product range. I was introduced to L’Occitane’s Almond range when I worked there back in 2013, and thanks to the very generous staff discount and staff allowance system I got to try a lot of really awesome products that I really wouldn’t have been exposed to. There are some which I can’t really see myself repurchasing (like any of the skincare), I am absolutely in love with the almond bath range and will continue to hurt my wallet (bye bye discount) and forever buy them.
I’ve tried other Almond bath products, trying to find dupes but I have been largely underwhelmed. L’Occitane seems to be crushing it when it comes to awesome Almond Bath Products. I’m on my third bottle of the Almond Shower Oil, and second tube of the Almond Shower Scrub. I would absolutely love to purchase the full size of the Almond Milk Concentrate but I am seriously a clutz and I can see myself dropping the glass jar and smashing it into tiny pieces. Plus, I’m really not a big fan of jar packaging in any way so I always ask for a lot of samples when I’m purchasing. So far so good!
Almond Shower Oil
Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Tipa-Laureth Sulfate, Laureth-3, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Fragrance, Cocamide Mea, Sorbitan Oleate, Propylene Glycol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Aqua/Water, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Coumarin, Limonene, Linalool.
This was my gateway drug into this range. Of all the products, this was the one we had customers coming to buy in droves, no matter how we packed it up, these flew out of the store. The only bath oil I’d tried was baby oil as a moisturiser to ‘lock in’ moisture and I found it really greasy and uncomfortable. This has an emulsifier, so it turns into a really light soapy residue and washes off easily. I’m hesitant to call it a foam because it doesn’t bubble up at all. Ughhh, my skin feels so soft, clean and not tight at all. I initially tried to ration this product and use it up slowly on ‘pamper’ days, but I love it so much that it’s just an everyday product for me now.
Almond Shower Scrub
Aqua/Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Polyethylene, Glycerin, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Shell Powder, Xanthan Gum, Parfum/Fragrance, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Hydroxyethylcellulose Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Galactaric Acid, Geraniol, Limonene, Citronellol.
I’m always really wary of scrubs. I have a terrible habit of overindulging in them and ending up with red (yes! me! red!) raw skin. This however is far too light for my naughty little mitts to over exfoliate. It’s by no means a gentle scrub, but it somehow manages to sit in the range of being harsh enough that I’m satisfied without doing major damage. I really enjoy the twist mechanism to open it and that it’s in a tube makes it easy for me to use in the shower without getting everywhere messy.
Almond Milk Concentrate
Aqua/Water, Isononyl Isononanoate, Cyclomethicone, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Methylsilanol Mannuronate, Triethylhexanoin, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Protein, Cetearyl Glucoside, Mannitol, Menthyl Lactate, Parfum /Fragrance, Carbomer, Sodium Polyacrylate, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Methylisothiazolinone, Sorbic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate Se, Xanthan Gum, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Ppg-26-Buteth-26, Ethylhexylglycerin, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide, Limonene, Linalool, Coumarin.
I really want to love the full size, I want to, but I can’t. I’ve thought about buying and decanting it into a pump, but the packaging really is far too beautiful for that. So, for now I just hoard the little sachets and enjoy the product when I can.
Almond Travel Sizes
I bought this set a while ago and I’ve been too scared to use it up, everything looks so precious! I also have a smaller almond oil mini that I got in another set that I’ve been using on trips away. I think this has just motivated me to go on more holidays!
Even though the shower oil contains more grape oil than sweet almond oil, even though some products in the range do contain SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) which may be problematic for some, and even though the price tag is quite high I still consider this range second to none for shower pampering. I emerge from my showers feeling way more relaxed than when I use any other shower product. My skin is softer, the aroma is intoxicating and I just feel happier.
Have you tried this range before do you agree? Or do you have another shower range that you think will knock my socks off? Let me know!
