Yellow Dust is gross and inescapable, which is why Etude House developed the Dust Cut range to combat it. They aren’t the only company to do so, but I saw their segment on Get it Beauty and Picoprince’s review and I was sold. The idea of the range is to create a barrier between your skin an the outside world, making this ideal for anyone living in an area with high levels of pollution.

I don’t live in an area with high pollution, but I do work in a Korean Restaurant that is super hot all the time. The side dishes are kept in the BBQ area, and I’m constantly (obviously) walking in and out of the kitchen during my shift. As a result, my skin was being exposed to all sorts of oils and dust it really isn’t used to. It revolted. After every shift I’d wake up with at least two new pimples. They wouldn’t last long but they’d be really painful and obvious. Something had to be done! I remembered this line and thought, well why not?

There are four products in the range, a Mist, Cream, Cleanser and Mask, but I only bought the Mist and Cream. I can’t imagine how useful the mask would be and I don’t really need any more cleansers.

What is patch testing?! I use them both at the same time, so I can only talk about the efficacy of the two together. I don’t have a favourite, I think they both do the same thing in different ways.

It’s actually pretty simple and no fuss. Thankfully everything has an English translation alongside the Korean original, Etude is serious about being global. If you can see from the nozzle the spray is not an aerosol, it’s a mist which means it doesn’t spray out finely like Avene Thermal Water. The bottle is a soft plastic not metal.

My Experience

The spray itself is easy to use, but does make make skin wet as it’s not an aerosol. Mist makes you think of fine gentle particles, it is not! It’s more like a plant spritzer.

To use it I spritz my skin a couple of times then pat it down into my face to speed up the drying process. If I miss an area I spritz my hand and then pat it into the area I missed. It’s clear and very watery, not sticky at all. When I apply it for a few seconds my skin feels hot then it disappears. I usually re-apply the mist each hour.

I love everything about this product, the only downside I can think of is the fragrance. It has a really sweet girly fragrance that’s very Etude House. I don’t hate the smell, it’s just that I can’t smell it after a few minutes and everyone around me can for a little bit longer. That annoys me, maybe it’s just my weird nose?! Oh, and it’s kind of bulky to carry around. Apparently there are sample sets (so cute), but I can’t justify buying one especially as the large size is easy to open up and decant into another smaller bottle.

Again soft plastic made to look like metal. I’m actually really glad it isn’t metal because it’s so hard to get the final bits of product out without mangling everything up.

Although the ingredients are long the inclusion of Licorice, Bamboo and Aloe made me happy. I’m trying to soothe my skin damnit!

My Experience

Man, I was not expecting how watery this cream would be! This is not a moisturiser, it is a finishing cream and it assumes you will add this to your routine on top of whatever moisturiser or sun protection you’ll be using. It dries matte leaving the skin feeling slightly more hydrated. If you use a makeup primer, I’d skip it and use this as it works as a great base.

Again the only downside is the fragrance. It’s a weird teenage floral scent that isn’t unpleasant, it’s just a little juvenile.

Overall

Would I buy this again? Absolutely! It isn’t an everyday product for me so I probably won’t need to repurchase for a long while, but I have recommended this to my friends and family. My mother is going back to Ghana where it’s way dustier (they have a version of Yellow Dust too) and she’s going with a bottle of the mist so I’ll do a follow up review with her to see how that works out.

Even though the fragrance is slightly annoying the benefits totally outweigh the downsides for me. I’d much rather deal with smelling like a teenager for a little while, than wake up after a long shift on my feet with gross throbbing painful pimples on my face!
