Six terribad songs I love unironically

I like lots of different types of music. I am not a musical snob. I watched Glee (and prefer some of their covers), but I also love and appreciate classical music. It’s a spectrum yanno? Sometimes you’re in the mood for some Holst, other times you’re in the mood for some Skrillex!

That being said, there are some songs that I am just ashamed of. They are bad, I know they are bad, but I love listening to them, and I feel shame every time I press play.  Below are six of the worst offenders that have come to mind. All I ask is that you keep the snickering to a minimum! Thank you 🙂

Miley Cyrus – Hoedown Throwdown

Good lord, this song is bad. Everything about it is awful, the lyrics, the stupid dance, the sincere Disneyness of it all, yack. I LOVE IT. Thanks to cheap tickets, boredom and an empty afternoon, I watched the Hannah Montana movie in the cinema, and it was amazing. So the only logical progression was to learn the dance to this horrible horrible song.

All these years later, I still remember every line and every step, #noragrets.

Katy Perry – Dark Horse

Boyfriend is a monster. This song makes me so mad because it doesn’t make any sense. The video makes no sense, the lyrics make no sense, the whole thing is so utterly .. WHAT IS HAPPENING!? So offensive, so problematic, yet because he unironically played this song so often, I like it. ugh, this one I am ashamed of.

Justin Bieber ft Nicki Minaj – Beauty and the Beat

There are so many Justin Bieber songs that could have made the list, but this is the one that I’m most embarrassed by. I can’t even justify this. Well, enjoy.

스텔라 (Stellar) – Rocket Girl

I think I was one of three people who actually loved Stella when they were first Stellar and came out with their spacey concept. I LOVED Rocket Girl and UFO, both still get regular play, and while I’m happy they’re getting recognised for their more ‘interesting’ concepts, I really wish this had been popular. They were Crayon Pop before Crayon Pop.

Becky G – Die Young (remix)

I couldn’t tell you where I heard this song, but I love it so much. I think it’s an amazing cover, and I honestly think I prefer it over the original. No I won’t hear a negative word against it!

Jennifer Lopez ft. Iggy Azalea – Booty

I saved the best for last, this song is such hot garbage that I don’t even know where to put my shame. Jennifer, are things really this bad that you would collaborate with Igloo Australia? The repetitiveness makes it so catchy that I can almost forgive Igloo for appropriating an accent to make herself more relevant. Just kidding, I can’t. Yet, I had it on loop for an entire work day. Go figure.

There are more! I’m sure there are more, but I think I’m going to stop here, there is only so much shame one can allow the world to be aware of at any one time yanno? Feel free to share in the embarrassment with me and tell me your so-bad-but-good songs. Or you could just sit and laugh. Totally up to you. Sharing is caring though~ !
