DNCE – Cake By The Ocean

I-I-I-I-I keep on hoping we’ll eat cake by the ocean!

If you’ve listen to the song and managed to do so without so much as a wiggle, I don’t know how to help you. Do you not like fun? Why are you such a grumpy pants? Cake by the Ocean is the first single from DNCE who’s front man is a former Jonas Brother, whaaaa? The change seems to agree with him because this song is awesome!

Zara Larsson – Lush Life

Doing it all night all summer, gonna spend it like no other.

I first heard of Zara through kpop group f(x) when they were preparing to release their version of her song Cash Me Out. Almost three years later and Zara’s at it again, Lush Life is stuck my head and I can’t be mad about it.

What’s even more awesome about this song is that it works in multiple genres without losing the original feel of the song. Click on the image above to be taken to a website Clinique creates that has her song in four genres (you can skip between all four) to promote their lipstick range. While I doubt I’ll purchase of the lipsticks, I think this was a really cool way to partner with a musician to promote products! 

WALK THE MOON – Shut Up and Dance

This woman is my destiny. She said, “Ooh-ooh-hoo, Shut up and dance with me!”

I first heard this on NYE but I only saw the video for the very first time as I started writing this post. The lead singer describes the song as, “Encouraging people to let go of whatever it is that’s bothering you and get into your body and out of your head”. I wholeheartedly agree!

AOA – 사뿐사뿐(Like a Cat)

 I’m good, I’m hot, I’m fresh, I’m fly!

Of all the kpop songs I could have put in the playlist this is the one that makes the cut! SISTAR are the queens of the summer jams, but I don’t actually like any of their summer songs, sorry. AOA though, are an utterly ridiculous group. As my little sister says, “They know exactly what they’re doing and don’t shy away from it”.  This song was released in 2014, but because I’m always on the cutting edge of everything, I only really paid attention to it now.

Like with all kpop songs I love, I’ve endeavoured to learn the dance, thankfully there’s a Let’s Dance because I couldn’t figure out how the Meow Dance worked…

I’m always trying to fend off the winter blues, so I’m always on the lookout for music that makes me feel like it’s summer all day, every day.  Do you have a favourite summer feel song? I’d love to hear it!
