January 2016 – The Weekends

Happy Wandering Wednesday Thursday!

One of my goals this year was to do  funtime activities each weekend that would give me lots to talk about every Wednesday. What’s actually been happening is that I’ve been spending my weekends spending time with the people I care about, not always doing things that fit nicely into an instagram flatlay image. Whoops? I’d still like to talk about them, so here we go!

3rd January – Funtimes with Anita

I absolutely love meetups, so when Anita reached out to me and asked if I wanted to hangout with her in London I said absolutely

She’s French, and over cronuts and tea we talked about the impact KBeauty is having over there. It was really interesting to see how similar our two countries approached skincare. I’ve always thought of French Beauty as the ultimate in luxury and self care, but hearing her speak about the French brands that are placed in the ‘premium’ isle, it’s easy to see how the idea is sold more than the actual product. I can definitely see some parallels in Beauty and the West.

The other exciting thing about our day was that we were with Whamisa UK! Get hype, they’re coming soon :3

After tea (because yay food) we grabbed a burger in 5 Guys. It was absolutely delicious and we ate it so fast we didn’t think to take a picture, LOL!

Anita has a store where she sells sheet masks in France, which is pretty cool. When I tried to order some, she sent my order to me for free, which was very sweet of her. We’re planning another meetup soon, maybe next time I go to Paris? Or she comes to Oxford? Who knooowwss~ *waves arms*

10th January – Mandatory Star Wars viewing with Mr.

16th January – ABUK Meetup

I have a group of friends who I love very much and have bonded with due to our geographical location and love of Asian cosmetics. Our group started on IRC, but now we mostly just derp using LINE talking about whatever and all the stuff. We share tips, group shippings (rarely), trade and decant products. Mostly though, we’re just there for each other, which is nice. We like to meet up when we can to hang out and EAT ALL THE TASTY FOOD.

We also walked around London and saw cool art, so that was pretty neat.

23rd January – TAYO TIME!

I’ve talked about how wonderfully talented my cousin is before (if you haven’t – go check out her travel blog and instagram page).

We hadn’t seen each other in a months, so much so that her christmas present morphed into her birthday present which started life as an, “I love you present”, so. We hung out, we watched movies, we talked and we ate together. It was nice to just see her and love all up on her. Hopefully we get to see more of each other this year!

So while I don’t have lots and lots of pretty pictures of things in a neatly arranged well lit picture setting, I have been having a lot of fun. Maybe too much fun because all I want to do now is sleep for a thousand years. Sleeping Beauty had it right, reach for the stars, nap for hours!

I’m still looking for those big activities that I can take lots of pictures of and write lots of interesting things about! However, I’m realising that may not always happen because when you’re doing life, it doesn’t always fit into a few frames and witty captions. Sometimes you can’t document it, you just have to enjoy it for what it is in the moment and that is just as wonderful.
