2016, Do More.

January is the month of reflection and goal setting. I’m looking back at the highs and lows of last year, celebrating the good things and vowing to do better in the next.

2015 in Review

2015 was the year of being brave, I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and start doing things that were important but daunting. You know, like getting an adult job, paying down debt and travelling more.  2015 showed me that the only person who loses if I don’t do is myself, and to get what I want in life, I have to put myself out there and just try. If I fail, so be it! But it’s better than nothing at all.

To keep up the spirit of motion and activity,  2016 is about  Doing More.

More travelling, writing, learning, studying and experiencing. I made a start in 2015 into the big bad world of adulthood, but 2016 is the year to really jump in, stop taking baby steps and start going all in. The vacations I took later 2015 really just opened my eyes to how much more of the world existed out there *waves hands*, and how tiny the problems I’d made so huge in my little corner of the Earth really were. Hopefully someone else can relate (pls, don’t let me be alone in this), but I’ve spent so much of my adult life being afraid of judgment and afraid of rejection because I was always waiting for someday to get good enough to make a start.

Today is someday.

Do More: Travel

TravelCollage

I’ve been to some interesting places, but I barely know anything about my immediate area! 2016 is the year to change that. Every week (probably weekend) I’m aiming to do something interesting, be it visit a neighbouring city or wandering about in mine. Nothing is too small, I want to travel and explore the world around me. I feel like I’ve been walking around with my eyes shut for so long.

As not everything will be posted on my blog, but on instagram, et al, I’m going to be using a hashtag #adoreTravel to keep it all together. Big vacations will have their own tag, ie: #adoreCOUNTRYNAME to keep it all together.

So for 2016, there’s a trip to Venice, Seoul and Ghana planned! omgyes.

Do More: Exercise

As is always the way, I’ve gained more weight than I’m comfortable with and that is due to my poor diet, and insufficient exercise. This needs to not be the case. It’s so easy to make grand promises to make a change, like joining a gym. But, my weight gain has been due to inconsistency and poor will power (whaaa).

In addition to adding more exercise into my routine, I’m going to be consistent with the changes that I started to make in 2015.

  •  Lifts no longer exist. Walk up the stairs! Thankfully, my office only has three floors! Holding on to the hand rail is cheating, so none of that thank you.
  • Water is the essence of beauty. This seems like a lesson I refuse to learn, but I just need to stop trying and start doing. I don’t hate water, I just hate having to go to the bathroom every twenty minutes when I do drink how much I should!
  • Stop eating cake. Just stop. My avatar on STEAM is Fat Princess, because I identify with her love of cake on a deeply spiritual level. However, work is a huge enabler of sweet things, as it’s always someone’s birthday, wedding, special day, meaning there is ALWAYS a cake or biscuit around somewhere. I can’t keep doing it. So instead I’m going to try and pack more healthy snacks like nuts and raisins.

Do More: Work

Funny one to put down right? Who wants to do more work? I do! I spent 2015 figuring out the business world and understand what I want to do and more importantly what I do not want to do.  Now I know it’s important to me to work in an environment that makes you feel valued and is honest with you, even if it isn’t good news.

Do More: Adulting

It’s high time I learned how to drive. It would also be pretty sweet to move into my own place and be more independent from my parents. Annnnddd… Well, I should stop here, because I’ll never stop writing and I want to keep this manageable.

2016 started off on both a high and a low things I thought were going to happen so far have not and don’t seem to be, so I felt really lost. Which is why this post is later than I wanted it to be. But at the same time, some amazing things have happened and I’m so excited to talk more about it when the time comes~! Upward and onwards, gotta look to the future because the past has already gone.

What are your plans for 2016? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear all about it!

“Lifts no longer exist” Q_Q “handrails are cheating”. Q____Q

I banned myself from driving recently if it’s within two miles. It’s real pathetic how much I drove my giant tank around when I had perfectly capable legs…

Your goals are great! If you manage to drink all your water and not pee 20 times a day let me know since I still haven’t figured that out. 😦

That’s actually been the hardest, walking up the stairs especially when I’ve gone up and down them three times already 😢

Whoo! That is a really great goal! Doesn’t matter what you used to do, what’s awesome is what you’re doing now. Also, yeah sorry, I got nothing, I have to keep a bathroom within 10 feet at all times.. Bah!
