Review | Serendi_Beauty Sparkling CO2 Mask Pack

Why should brides have all the fun?

Intro-Picturewarm

You know? I know very little about this brand. I kind of appreciate that there’s no great lore or epic story (in English anyway). As far as I can tell, this is a home spa brand, they only have two products available in the West and I have both of them! Unfortunately one has niacinamide (boo!) which is one of my trigger skincare ingredients so my cousins kindly tested that out for me (post coming soon – spoiler they loved the effect).

What I’m testing today is their sparkling CO2 Mask Pack which is supposed to be life changing.  While I balked at the initial price tag, I sleep easy knowing that this is supposed to be a special occasion mask kit, for important occasions like weddings and graduations when attention is going to be all on you. For something as important as that, isn’t it right that you pamper yourself? Absolutely!

I received this mask from my sponsor kokofash.com in collaboration with SerendiBeauty. As always my reviews are 100% my honest opinion and not influenced by any external pressures.

My Sheet Mask Secret

I have oily skin and living in a high humidity/low temperature place, I find it difficult to use a sheet mask more than twice a week. It simply doesn’t absorb and feels like a waste of product. As a result I have a huge stash of masks and while I enjoy some more than others, I find masks to be pretty meh in general. If I never had to use one again I think I’d be okay with it (don’t hate me).

That being said, these masks looked like a lot of fun and I’m a huge kid who loves bubbles! Plus, it was featured on Get It Beauty and I’m a suuucker for that show.

What I received

Title

I was exceptionally lucky to receive the five mask pack set which meant I could take my time to play around with it more than once. It is packed exceptionally well, in a really nice presentation case that adds an extra step of luxury to the whole experience. I can honestly say, as I was using it I was sad that I was using it alone. This feels like something that is a million times more fun when you use it with other people!

Each syringe full of the mask gel is plastic wrapped and then individually boxed.

The masks are sealed in individual plastic seals and then placed in a cardboard box. Did I mention that this was packed well? Because it is. Unboxing it felt like a huge deal, and everything individually wrapped and sealed made the whole experience feel special. By the time I came to use the product, I felt so excited!

Application Method

serendi-instructions

The instructions seem pretty straightforward, but I was still unsure. These masks are pricy and I wanted to make sure I got it right. Everyone who has ever thrown away a mask and used the sheet backing, or forgotten to take off the sheet backing on a sheet mask will know the struggle! Haha!

Experience

serendi-application

This is a silly mask. As I was using it, I took pictures (and video) of each step and put them on Snapchat. My non-skincare friends all raised eyebrows and said, “You sure do put some interesting things on your face!” I had to laugh, because this is not a simple mask, it’s a silly mask but it’s a fun mask. It’s an involved process of glooping things on, pressing things in, massaging things in and washing things off.

After washing my face and applying my first essence I applied the syringe to my face. That part was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. It was nice to be able to control where the gel would go.

The 20ml of gel is exceptionally generous, I found myself layering it on because there was so much! I avoided the delicate eye area because delicate eye area.

You can’t save the product either, it’s a once use thing so you either put it on your face or throw it away. So before you remove the shrink wrap, be sure you want to use it there and then! The mask itself is very stiff, it’s soaked in something that reacts to the gel so you get the bubble effect, that means you can’t just use any old sheet mask. That being said, Serendibeauty site sells the sheet masks separately, so if you’re finding that you have too much serum on your face then you could hypothetically split a syringe with a friend (I never thought I would say that). However, I don’t think you would both have enough to cover your faces! So that means you’d have to hack the sheet mask into pieces. I guess that way you could make a cheek mask? Or a T-Zone mask? Wow, so many possibilities!

Once I’d placed the gel on my face, I pressed the sheet mask on. The bubbles started almost instantly and are are not gentle bubbles. I initially didn’t really like it because It was a bit surprising and stung a little. however after a few seconds I became used to the constant pop pop and it was fine. Once the bubbles died down (kind of like when pop corn slows down), I pushed the mask into my skin and it felt like I was playing with bubble wrap!

Results

beforeandafter
oof. sorry for the bug eyes x_x

Most of the masks in my stash are just simple moisture enhancers. The only masks that really have any other effect on my skin are Clabiane’s PGA Intensive mask and Etude House I Need You Pomegranate which soothe acne. Now I can add this mask to the list of effective masks because holy brightening batman this was lovely. I can’t attest to the healthy part of the claims, but smooth and glowy my skin was! It felt like I’d exfoliated a whole layer of skin to reveal baby soft skin.

Would I repurchase this mask? Yes! Absolutely! However, not to use as an everyday mask, but I would purchase it if I was going for a big event, especially if I had friends to do the mask with me! I can see why this is a bridal mask, because the whole process of using it is so relaxing, you feel pampered and special. And the results are exactly what you’d want for a day when all eyes are on you! However, I would advise that you patch test first. Nothing worse than having a reaction on your special day.

Have you ever tried a CO2 mask? Do you have a special occasion mask? I’d love to hear all about it!

Haha I used to buy so many things that were featured on Get it Beauty and then had to stop because I needed none of it. This sounds so fun! My life is so uneventful though I don’t think I would ever use up a 5-pack!

I know I’m going to use two at the end of the year my mother wants to use it with me (yay)! But yeah, that’s why I think it’s a group mask activity. I can’t think of when I’d need it, I too am boring.

Get it Beauty is so much fun! Such an effective money suck lol!
