What?! Another Cushion Foundation for PoC? I’m tripping out everywhere. This one really took me by surprise because I know Lancôme is releasing a Cushion Foundation with a darker shade that I have my fingers crossed for (read that review here) but I had no idea anyone else was making cushions for darker skin tones. For everyone wandering what all the fuss is about, have a read of my Laneige BB Cushion in Dark Review. While Lancôme are busy building hype, Kiko Cosmetics have thrown their hat into the ring with their CC Cushion.
I don’t have the product, this is just a first impressions of my interactions with it in store. It might change with time, I’m so excited I had to talk about it because I think this is first true cushion product made outside of Korea for a non-asian audience!
Today my mom and I went into town to go to the post office and look around, and we saw, a new store open up. I’ve only heard of this brand through other beauty addicts, so I thought I’d give a quick look around. As I was scanning the store, it was my mom who noticed that they had a cushion foundation!
I’m sorry the swatches aren’t the best, but I had no idea I was going to even be swatching anything and we had time constraints due to parking (boo). I’ll be going back tomorrow with my Laneige cushion to try and get better swatches.
- Right off the bat I was impressed because it’s made in Italy, not Korea, so they’ve tried to make it their own.
- It’s a lot less, sturdy feeling than my Laneige Cushion. Like it feels like it weighs nothing. I think that’s because there’s a lot less product. There were no refills being sold, and the packaging looks like it should be refillable but I don’t think it is.
- My main concern was trying to colour match and find a decent applicator because I know that the application method really does make a difference for cushion products. Otherwise, what’s the point of having it in a cushion? Unfortunately none of the testers had the applicator boo!
- Speaking of applicator a SA opened a new one to let me see what it was like, and I don’t think it’s Rubycell, which means it probably doesn’t have the antibacterial properties the Amore Pacific Cushion Puffs do.
- The product itself was nice! Not to thick, smelled okay, dried matte which was interesting!
This is good! It is not my true to skin colour, which is a shame, but I’ll find out more tomorrow. I know cushion foundations are kind of old news in Korea now, but that it’s gaining popularity in the West means that those of us with darker skin tones get to participate and play with the fun makeup trend.
Whoooo! ~ How exciting!
You should do a makeup look post using this foundation! 🙂
